Our Programs
Montessori is a system of education based on the understanding that every child has an innate motivation to learn. For this reason, it is important to provide a carefully prepared environment, designed to promote physical, academic, and psychological development. We know that children learn best by using all of their senses; working at their own pace in a classroom prepared especially for the child. At every level, our programs are rich with multi-sensory, self-directed learning; conflict resolution skill-building; and an emphasis on both collaboration and independent thinking.
The carefully-designed Montessori materials support the child’s need to feel, smell, manipulate, and hear. The Montessori materials are thoughtfully selected to help facilitate the young learner’s journey at each stage of thier development. The “work” is stimulating, self-correcting, and visually pleasing which allows the teacher time to carefully observe and keep detailed records of the progress made by the children. The Montessori curriculum is a deeply interconnected one, focusing on integrated patterns of knowledge that allow the child to experience the learning process naturally.
At Springhill our Montessori programs are led by trained professionals who allow the child to be an active participant in his or her learning. It is important that each guide and assistant understand how to manage the Montessori classroom. This ensures that the children are able to focus on learning and exploration. The Montessori classroom is a unique environment which provides a vast array of experiences for each child. A Montessori education cannot be conveyed by words alone. Come for a visit to see for yourself the magic that happens in the Montessori classroom.
